"Let me tell you my story. I have never been an athlete, the last time I played any kind of team sports was in junior high. In an effort to keep fit, I have always tried to stay active, but nothing ever held my attention for very long. The workouts get routine, and then they get boring and then I find other more exciting ways to fill my time. But I knew..." more

I’m glad to say that I have accomplished them all! There still are a lot workouts that I can’t do rx’d and a whole new level of skills that I have yet to accomplish but that’s the fun part, I can always make a whole new list with many more goals. What makes crossfit even better is the family, I love the camaraderie. The encouragement from fellow coaches and cellmates pushes you to go beyond the limits you set yourself up for during the workouts.
I am blessed to have been introduced to crossfit, to have such great coaches and to be a part of the unlimited family. "

Now I'm about 5 months into working out Crossfit style in "The Cell" and I realized something today. I'm not the one in the jail cell. It's the people looking in at me funny through the bars and above me walking by the terrace that are caged up. Holding on tightly to their old ways of doing things, sitting in denial that what they've been doing for years might not be all there is out there. Maybe even ignoring the fact that there's something new that can make a difference in their life. In fact, I'm the one that's free, and I found that freedom in The Cell!
I realized today that my whole life has transformed, and a major part of that is because of my dedication to Crossfit. Not only has my body rapidly transformed (sometimes I catch myself staring in the mirror in disbelief) but my relationships with everyone in the gym have too. Before, the gym was just a room with machines and weights, now it's a center of excellence where I'm surrounded by people going where I'm going, and going where I want to be. I never expected to have a sense of "family" at my gym the way I do being part of Crossfit.
Through Crossfit I discovered that I have absolutely no physical limit aside from the mental ones that I self-impose. When I push those aside, I break through to new levels of performance every time. So I took that lesson and applied it to other areas of my life - my relationships, work, my other passions, and I had breakthroughs in all of those areas as well.
The more time I spend caged up in "The Cell", the more free I am! "

"First of all I wanted to say thank you to all my coaches! Without them I would not have been given the tools and motivation to see the results that I have. I began my Crossfit/Zone journey to improve my strength and stamina for an upcoming fight. Although I did not win the fight, some great words from a friend and coach, made me realize that I won so many things in my journey along the way. I started out at 145.8 lbs, 30.7% BF. I weighed in for my fight 41 days later at 132.5 lbs and 23.?% BF. It was the first time I had weighed in for a fight without having to "cut" weight, so I was able to fight with no worries of making weight, and felt fully energized for my fight. I didn't realize it then, but those numbers were just the beginning in improvements I've seen.
I went for a run last week, and timed my mile, which I hadn't done in months. I clocked a 7:37 mile!! I hadn't ran a sub 8 minute mile since highschool, so this was huge. The great thing is I think I could have even done it faster, but I paced myself the first half. For those of you who don't know what running Suncrest is, it is a stretch of road in San Jose, about 1 mile long, but you are going uphill the entire time!! I shaved a good 3 minutes off my time from the last time that I ran it with the team. I still had to stop, so my next goal is to run it without stopping :) Even without those other numbers, the best one was going from a size 10 to a 6 (All the ladies can appreciate that one)!!
The best part of it all, is that I haven't gotten sick since I began this program, I'm sleeping better, and I was even told that I don't snore anymore. Maybe a li'l T.M.I. but the point is that my health is so much better. I did fall off the Zone wagon this last week, and I noticed the difference in how I felt immediately. So now I'm back to training and Zoning, and I'm excited to see how many more "wins" I come across. "

"I’ve never considered myself one who was supremely athletic or a “health freak”; rather, I’m just a regular person who wanted to get fit. When I started Crossfit, I remember thinking to myself, “I must be nuts for doing this! There’s no way I’ll be able to do ANY of these workouts!” After all, it took me TEN minutes to walk down the stairs after the seminar! But I kept with it, and after a couple of weeks, I noticed big changes in not only my endurance, but my strength and stamina as well. I even started using some of the sayings from class and applying it at work! I know I never could have done this by myself. Not only are the coaches motivating, but the other Crossfit “cellmates” are extremely supportive. We push each other; challenge each other, but are the best cheerleaders too! A couple of the coaches (I will not mention any names) may even fib a little bit to prove you’re stronger than you think you are! I’ve personally learned to let go of my limits (or what I think they are). I’ve gone from not knowing how to do a deadlift to a maximum load of 285 lbs.; I’ve also started running, which is a MAJOR personal accomplishment. I’m even contemplating running in a marathon next year!
I can honestly say that I will never regret signing up for Crossfit. It has made me stronger person, not only physically but mentally as well. I’ve never pushed myself harder or tested my limits in any other activity. I recommend anyone to try it, whether you are a beginner or the most elite athlete. Trust me, after one workout, you’ll get hooked too!"

"Growing up I never considered myself an athlete. Sure-- I participated on the schools' volleyball, basketball, and swim team. Of the three, I was the most involved with the swim team. I was apart of the City of Milpitas' swim team, Milpitas Tidal Waves. I would go to practice everyday and Wednesdays would be a double day with morning and afternoon practice. My events in a swim meet were the 200 Medley (50 butterfly) Relay, 100 yard Butterfly, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 400 Freestyle Relay. I thought I was in the best shape of my life since swimming gives you a total body workout and it's easy on your joints. After high school I tried to stick with swimming but it was hard since I was not doing it competitively anymore. After college I tried to go swimming everyday but it soon got boring and not fun and exciting anymore, especially doing it by yourself with no one to push you on. That's when I decided I needed a change and started doing Yoga and Power Hour at the Milpitas Sports Center. This is when I realized I suck at everything on land and everything was easier in the water. Both classes didn't appeal to me and that's when I went to Jason Luk for some advice. I knew he was doing CrossFit and enjoyed it a lot. He suggested the free Saturday morning class just to see if I'd like it so why not-- what was there to lose? Come Saturday morning we learned how to squat correctly and did a team-like WOD. After that Saturday I was so intimidated I didn't think I could do CrossFit, which discouraged me a lot. A few months passed and I went back to swimming but incorporated land exercise with my workout since that is what I was comfortable with. With Winter around the corner (and I hate being cold), I finally told Jason that I wanted to join CrossFit and he was so thrilled. Now I am 2 months in and I can tell a real big difference in myself. My confidence level is higher, my body feels stronger, and I have more energy throughout the day. I do believe NOW I'm in better shape than I thought I was before. CrossFit Unlimited definitely has it's challenges mentally and physically but whatever doesn't break you, only makes you stronger. Don't be intimidated, shy or scared because the best experiences in life are those outside your comfort zone. Athlete or non athlete, CrossFit will make a positive change in your life and you won't regret it. I'm so blessed to be apart of such an awesome CrossFit family! I can't wait to experience what other adventures CrossFit has in store for me."

That's what cross fit is all about. After each "Workout Of The Day" I feel that I have accomplished more than what hours with an average workout could ever do. Cross fit is the place for me and for those wanting to push themselves and beyond.
It's all about the ninja school these days. "
