The "Big Girls Don't Cry" challenge consists of 3 workouts. Each workout will be divided in 8 heats with 5 athletes in each heat. For those who competed at this year's CrossFit games, the format is very similar. Total time of the 3 workouts will determine the men's and women's champion. There will be a 10 minute time limit for each workout and 5 minutes before the start of each heat. 8 heats times 15 minutes equals 2 hours total for all competitors to complete the workout. After all athletes finish workout 1, there will be a 30 minute break, same after workout 2. This gives each athlete about two and a half hours between workouts. Your heats and start times will be announced 2 weeks prior to the competition. You are responsible to be in the workout area 3 minutes before your start time. A warm-up area will be available and food and water will be provided to all athletes.
Each athlete will have their own judge to monitor the following standards:
Workout 1- "Fran"
21-15-9 reps for time of:
- Thrusters(m95#/w65#)
- Pull-ups
Thruster range of motion standards are:
1. Start postion is below parallel on the front squat(crease of hip below top of knee). If depth is questionable at all, the judge will call no rep.
2. Full extension of knee, hip, and elbows with part of the ear visible from the side at finish position.
Pull-up range of motion standards are:
1. Full extension of arms at the start position.
2. Chin above bar at the finish position.
Workout 2- "Karen"
150 wall ball shots for time(m20#/w12#)
Wall ball range of motion standards are:
1. Front squat with med ball must be below parallel for valid start position.
2. For finish position, ball must make contact with the wall at or above the 10 foot line(where grey meets white).
Workout 3 - "Grace"ish
30 reps from floor to overhead for time(m135#/w95#)
From floor to overhead range of motion standards are:
1. Starting position is on the ground.
2. Top position is overhead with full knee, hip, and elbow extension and part of the ear visible from the side.
How you get there is up to you! Here's my secret:

Power cleans are acceptable, as are push presses and strict presses.
*By the way we do our next bombing tomorrow. The selection process is very demanding and takes some time. :)

So for "Grace" ish do we still need to bottom out in a full squat and then bring it up overhead however we want?

Austin- how many judges do you need? This may be a dumb question, but are judges expected to be there the entire time? (I'm on baby watch, so just in case I need to leave early)

Crossfit Newport Beach is COOL!!!! Great folks and a great box!! I was kinda bummed that I couldn't work out with them, but it was nice to meet them and put faces and names together. Melissa was wonderful and is an amazing person!
Ok, now I am off to Crossfit Marin to take their Wed night gymnastics class. Wish me luck!!! I will be back home tomorrow at the noon class!!

I went down to Newport Beach on Tuesday. I had a claim in Fullerton I had to inspect, so I figured since NB was only 20 min away, I should stop by and continue the Unlimited LOVE!!!
VV, I won't be back to a 7:30 class until next Wed. I have a self defense class on Thur night at 7pm and a fun class on Monday night at 7pm through the end of the month. Which is why I have been hitting up Khalipa's box at 5:30pm.
But I miss my Unlimited Family....seeing you all in print just isn't the same as live and in person!
